A Portrait: Cariboo Country Inn on Horsefly Lake

CCI-Lake02Every summer the blooming wildflowers transform our area into a sea of colors.

On our own property you can observe beavers building their dams and otters playing in and around the lake. Other wildlife to be observed are; Canadian geese, ducks, whitetail deer, mule deer, moose, lots of different kinds of birds, coyotes and with some luck you may even catch a glimpse of a wolve or  a bear.

Water enthusiasts can enjoy the crystal clear waters of Horsefly Lake with motor boats, canoes or kayaks. Spring and fall offer extraordinary trout fishing opportunities in Horsefly Lake as well as the many smaller lakes. Nearby Horsefly River is a well kept secret for exceptional fly fishing.

The ranch is home to many animals. Cattle, chickens, turkey, pigs, rabbits as well as our 2 dogs, Max and Myka, our 2 cats, Linda and Dahlai and our 4 old, retiered horses, Magic, Mystery, Dakota and Jinx  call this home.
At the east end of Horsefly Lake you will discover rare interior rainforest, impressive waterfalls and sandy beaches. Abundant wildlife such as bald eagles, Peregrine falcon, moose, elk, deer, beavers, cougar, grouse, coyotes, foxes, wolves, bear and many more are at home in the Cariboo.

Every year Horsefly River becomes one of the most important spawning grounds for wild Sockeye salmon. This salmon run is one of the three most spectacular in the world.

Cariboo Country Inn is open from May to October with one winterized cabin, the Loon Bay cabin, available year round

We look forward to seeing you at the ranch.
